Instructional Screencast

ISTE Standard 1: Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity

The screencast on how to use arrays to solve multiplication problems is a great way to support student learning using digital tools. I take students step by step through the website on how to complete the problems using arrays. This is facilitating their learning from a distance. I would post something like this on the class website, so that students have the reference while they are completing homework. If they get stuck, they can refer back to it to help them figure out how to solve the problems.

Slideshow for Affective Learning

ISTE Standard 2: Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments

The Animoto slideshow on Famous American Monuments is showing how to incorporate images into a slideshow without the traditional PowerPoint presentation. I would use slideshows like this one for engaging students attention and motivate them to want to learn the material. Students could then create their own slideshows on topics being studied and share them virtually with their peers. Using slideshows like would benefit visual learners as they are seeing pictures to place to the names of historical landmarks.

Book Trailer for The Fault in Our Stars

ISTE Standard 3: Model digital age work and learning

Creating a book trailer using Windows Movie Maker is a great way to represent a book in place of doing a book report. Using a digital format to highlight the storyline and persuade others to read it allows the use of current technology to be used to support a traditional way of learning. Students can exhibit their creativity to create their own book trailers to share with peers. This format would help those students that may be shy to speak in front of others because they are creating it at their own leisure and privacy. It would also benefit students with disabilities because they can create it all through the use of their computer, rather than having to write it out.
